  According to Jehovah's Witnesses, who will be saved?

  i know who won't be saved according to witnesses and that includes just about everyone alive at armageddon who is not a jehovah’s witness.

  .

  others who are permanently lost include adam and eve, those who died in the flood, people of sodom and gomorrah and apostates to their one true religion..

  Can you walk faultlessly? If not, you got a problem. Why quote the scriptures that condemn you and ignore the ones that save you?

  we can only guess what the Bible means by righteous and unrighteous being resurrected.

  No, the bible tells us exactly what will happen to the righteous and unrighteous. - all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. - Jn. 5
  
  The righteous will inherit the earth... remember? But scripture announces in several places that "there is no one righteous, no not one". So the only way to be righteous if for it to be imputed to you. And the only way for that to happen is through the new covenant.

  Where it all went wrong for the WT - JF Rutherford

  i was thinking a bit about this the other day.

  ct russell, from what i remember about him, kinda seemed like a genuine, nice(ish) guy, although he had a few eccentric but harmless ideas.. during the russell era jws (actually bible students) could still celebrate christmas, worship in other churches if there was no kingdom hall available, and accept blood transfusions.. then after russell died, along came rutherford - a major league a-hole, for sure.. rutherford had plenty of eccentric ideas but at least some of them weren't/aren't harmless.

  some have been long forgotten about - jesus depicted without a beard, the plan to rename the names of the week because names such as thursday (thor's day) is pagan, the articles about the 'dangers' of aluminium, etc.. one key contribution of rutherford which does a lot of harm is no blood transfusions, even in life-threatening situations.. another is shunning, something which never occurred under russell, or at least was much milder.. rutherford has a lot to answer for, i reckon ....

  there was a scripture about a rod.......it seemed to be in every other watchtower.....it was an excuse to beat children.

  i was a little girl.

  i was beat with my pants down every time they could.

  I got beat with a belt by both parents once. Mom wasn't doing a good enough job with the beating so Dad took over. What for? The sin of walking silly with my 12 yr. old friend at a convention when I was supposed to be in my seat. They were going to make sure I got life if they had to kill me to do it.... or something like that.

  Wow! After ruining the lives of millions of kids who wanted to to play team sports, they turnaround and build all sorts of sports facilities for themselves. Then, they post a sign that essentially says if you aren't one of the elite, then get the hell off our court.

  this experience highlights the level of my indoctrination, after 10 years of been a pomo.

  a few months back my gf was hinting to me about what we could do for my birthday.

  to be honest i just had no idea, that i even had a birthday.

  I really can’t be bothered with birthdays and Christmas. I actually see this as an advantage of been a former JW.

  Well, the way my (non-jw) wife explained it was that it wasn't about me, it was about the people who want to display love to you on those occasions. So, it's one of the things that is cultural and will likely create hard feelings and hurt others if not participated in. Just another nagging left-over issue from WT mind control.

  Dumb 'experiences' you were told as a JW

  this one stands out in my mind.

  it was reported that 'a brother', unnamed of course, was out in field service and was set upon by a pack of vicious dogs.

  he made it back to the car and was injured quite badly with his arms, hands and leg bleeding heavily.

  One of the many I have heard over the years goes like this:

  A JW couldn't reach the doorbell because a wrought iron fence encircled the home. So, he banged on the bars and a big German Shepherd came running up and pushed the gate open. Thinking fast the JW shoved a Watchtower into his mouth and said, "take me to your master". The dog calmed down and dutifully trotted away. So, he followed. He found the owner of the house far back in the back yard.
  
  A discussion ensued and the HH remarked that his dog had never acted like that to anyone before because he was a trained guard dog. He took the literature and later accepted a home bible study. Last report was that he was making fine progress along the road to life.

  Not sure if the German Shepherd ate his spiritual food as well.

  i was passing through a very liberal college town recently during rush hour.

  so, i decided to stop for some refreshment at a fine-looking establishment and wait for traffic to die down.

  a young waitress waited on me who probably could have been stevie nicks twin when she was young.
